'WE' THE PEOPLE

We the people
We the people

We The People,

We pledge by the Preamble,

The Preamble of our Constitution,

But, do we really abide by the Constitution???

Are we,

Really collective as 'WE'???

While divided by caste, class, religion??

or by sex, language & region??

I will quote Ambedkar

"In politics, we will be recognizing the principle of one man, one vote and one vote, one value. In our social and economic life, we shall, by reason of our social and economic structure, continue to deny the principle of one man one value. How long shall we continue to live this life of contradictions?..."

Does our Constitution,

doesn't emphasize one man, one value??

I wonder, what made Ambedkar say that...

while submitting the Constitution??

How hard it is to eradicate,

any form of discrimination,

Has Constitution failed in its application???

Let's not forget,

What was before the Constitution...

The law of manu...

Which divided the people...

The hierarchy of gender...

The hierarchy of caste...

The social structure...

The discrimination...

Is deep-rooted in the minds,

The minds of 'We' The People.

Have 'We' as the people,

failed the Constitution??

failed the vision of Ambedkar??

One cannot end the caste

or any form of discrimination...

Unless one abides by the Constitution...

Unless one learns to protect not just self, but others...

Practicing Equality, Liberty and Fraternity,

Can only bring Justice to us.

Justice for self, and for others...

When we are free from religion.

we will be a secular nation...

When we value one another, be equal,

We will be a socialist nation...

Without one man, one vote, ONE VALUE,

How can we be a democratic nation???

The Constitution is not merely a document to protect...

It is a tool to create a better Nation,

To represent...

To create better people...

Let's not call us 'we'

unless we value the people.

Let's pledge 'We the people'

only by understanding and abiding by The Constitution.
